This magnetometer effectively gauges minute variations resulting from solar storms, which can affect radio and power systems. Additionally, the Earth Field Magnetometer indicates aurora activity. By using a flux gate sensor and an external electromagnet, the Earth’s field is canceled out, and the system can detect a null field. Therefore, the system is strikingly sensitive without needing gain calibration of the flux gate sensor.
