Description: Originally developed by NASA's Ames Research Center, mainly to provide a software package that can meet the needs of heterogeneous computing network, for flexible batch processing, especially to meet the needs of high-performance computing, such as cluster system, supercomputer and massively parallel system. The main features of PBS are: open source, free access; support batch, interactive operation, a variety of parallel and serial operation, such as MPI, PVM, HPF, MPL; PBS is the most complete, the oldest and one of the most extensive local cluster. The scheduler supports PBS including openPBS, three main PBS Pro and Torque. The branch of OpenPBS is the first PBS system, at present there is not much development, PBS Pro is a commercial version of PBS, is the most feature rich. Torque Clustering company took over OpenPBS, and give an open source version of the follow-up support.
