Description: 1965 Soviet mathematician Kolmogolov proposed use of the structural characteristics of the source sequences to encode. The two Israeli researchers J.Ziv and A.Lempel inventive, completely out of Huffman and arithmetic coding design ideas, created a series of more efficient than Huffman coding, arithmetic coding more efficient than general purpose compression algorithms. These algorithms will be collectively referred to as LZ series algorithms.
