The figure illustrates the fact that at higher transmission bit rates, the error in the received signal increases. Therefore, it becomes a tradeoff between the transmission speed and the accuracy of the transmitted data. The increase in the error or distortion in the received signal may add to the complexity of the receiver design in order to recover the original signal or information.
