ATMEL's newly launched AT89SXXXX series also provides a SPI serial interface to allow users to program internal program memory (ISP).
What is an ISP?
The ISP (in-system Programming) can be programmed In the System, which means that the blank device on the circuit board can be programmed to write the end user code without having to take the device from the circuit board.
Already programmed devices can be erased or reprogrammed using isps. ISP technology is the future development direction.
In order to meet the needs of some SCM enthusiasts, this paper introduces the software and the simplest hardware connection method for the programming of 89S51 and 89S52 ISP by serial port.
The following figure is a simplified hardware connection method, although it is not fully automatic online programming, but its connection is simple and stable, and it is more suitable for beginners of DIY
