Description: The ever-increasing reliance on electronic devices which utilize AC power highlights the problems associated with the unexpected loss of power from the electrical grid. In places where the electrical infrastructure is not well-developed, brown-outs can prove fatal when electronic medical instruments become unusable. Therefore, there is a need for inexpensive and reliable pure-sine wave inverters for use with medical devices in the underdeveloped world. This report documents the development of one component of an uninterruptible power supply, the DC-to-AC inverter. Through the use of analog signal processing techniques, a prototype which efficiently and accurately emulates the pure-sine wave power present on the power grid was created. The three-level PWM system within this report is created with the possibility of a feedback-regulated system to be implemented in the future.

Using only analog components, it was developed the MPPT technique based on linearization of solar panel characteristic around the MPP, a feedforward control and a robust PWM sine wave modulator. This simple and low cost solution was designed to be used in grid connected rooftop photovoltaic panels (PV). In scenery where an entire city area could be used to generate extra power, reducing the necessity of huge central power plants, module integrated inverters will play an important role on grid connection of PV systems with high reliability due to the high level of redundancy. In this paper we proposed a strategy for optimizing the performance of a grid-connected photovoltaic power system. For this, we opted for an MPPT control method based on the fuzzy logic controlled. The control and improving of the performance of a voltage source inverter for grid connected photovoltaic (PV) systems, we proposed to use a modern technique which is called Direct Power Control. Simulations of the proposed approach give interesting results compared to the existing control strategies in this field. The model of the proposed system is simulated by MATLAB / Simulink
