W-CDMA stands for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access Its an air interface standard found in 3G mobile telecommunications networks designed for “always-on” packet-based wireless service, so that computers entertainment devices and telephones may all share the same wireless network and be connected to the internet, anytime anywhere. It was adopted as a standard by the ITU under the name "IMT-2000 direct spread." It is the technology used in the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and is also known as UMTS-FDD. It utilizes the DS-CDMA channel access method and the FDD duplexing method to achieve higher speeds and support more users compared to most time division multiple access (TDMA) schemes used today.

It mainly details converter configuration and examines a simple and reliable optimised fault diagnosis method. The con verter topology is based on classical three-leg active power filter topology. A ne w fault diagnosis method is proposed, based on classical currents measurements. It includes combinatory logic to analyse and validate error signals. A Hysteresis Control is applied before and after fault detection, which avoids any controller reconfiguration. A noncoherent, bandwidth-efficient modulation scheme is proposed for frequency-hopping multiple-access (FH-MA) networks. The proposed scheme is a combination of noncoherent -ary amplitude-shift keying (NMASK) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM). Using this scheme will minimize the required data bandwidth. The number of frequency slots available to the users will increase significantly for a fixed spread-spectrum bandwidth (BW55). The effect of the multiple-access interference will be reduced. Simple and accurate bit error rate expressions have been derived for FH-OFDM-MASK in additive white Gaussian noise channels and for FH-OFDM-ASK in Rayleigh fading channels. Index Terms—Amplitude-shift keying (ASK), frequency hopping (FH), -ary amplitude-shift keying (MASK), noncoherent, orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), Rayleigh channels.

An electronic ballast, to regulate the power in an Electrodeless Induction Lamp, based on the Loss Free Resistor (LFR) concept is presented here. It consists of two stages. The first one, a boost converter, behaves like a constant power source. The second one, the LCC full bridge resonant inverter, drives the lamp at its operation frequency, around 240 kHz. The cascade connection of both converters results in a ballast able to start and deliver always the same power to the IEFL regardless the lamp impedance, being capable of performing intensity light regulation. The proposed system is compared with other existing solutions in the literature. After, the ballast dynamics, at both operation modes, is analyzed and simulated. Wireless sensor networks with mobile sink are ex-pected to increase the flexibility for gathering information in large-scale sensing and detecting environments. Energy saving becomes one of the most important features of the sensor nodes to extend their lifetime in such networks. A novel tree-based power saving scheme is proposed in this paper to reduce the energy consumption in wireless sensor networks with mobile sink. We adopt a dynamic sorting algorithm to create a tree-cluster routing structure for the sensor nodes. The main goal of this scheme is to reduce the data transmission distances of the sensor nodes by employing the tree structure and multi-hop concepts. Based on the location of mobile sink, the distances between the sensor nodes, and the residual energy of each sensor node, the proposed scheme makes an efficient decision for creating the routing structure. The energy consumption is reduced and the lifetime is extended for the sensor nodes by balancing the network load.
