With increasing wind penetration in power systems, many national grid codes will demand complete models and simulation studies under different system conditions in order to ensure that the connection of a wind farm will not have a detrimental impact on the network to which it will be connected. Hence a dynamic model with reduced-order double cage representation for the DFIG and its associated control and protection circuits has been developed. It was then used to simulate the response of wind turbine to network faults on a simple two busbar system.

a new circuit topology of a phase-locked loop that can be used for synchronising a singlephase wind turbine generator (WTG) with the low voltage utility grid. The circuit is based on the time-delay digital tanlock loop (TDTL) architecture and was modelled and simulated using Simulink/MATLAB. The results presented demonstrate the ability of the circuit not only to synchronise a WTG with the grid, but also to re-gain synchronization following a sudden disturbance in the grid voltage. The simulated disturbances included a ramp and a multi-step change in the phase of the grid voltage waveform.

The input to the farm simulator is power set points of individual turbines. Outputs from the farm simulation are power production, nacelle wind speed and fatigue loads (damage equivalent loads) of each turbine.
