Besides, a new design of fuzzy direct torque control system of induction motor was introduced in this paper, which based on strategy of modulating the duty cycle to decrease the torque and stator flux ripple. This design uses fuzzy control block to instead of the traditional space voltage vector selector to control the inverter switch which can improve the static and dynamic performances of AC asynchronous motors, which make the whole control system have strong robustness.

An alternative variable word-size approach in two’s complement fixedpoint format is used for the implementation, in order to minimize calculation errors and the hardware resource usage. The simulation results of DTC model in Matlab, which performed double-precision calculations, are used as references to digital computations executed in FPGA implementation. The Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) method is used to verify the minimal error between Matlab simulation and the experimental results, and thus the well-functionality of the implemented estimators.

All the advantages of the basic DTC are still retained. In addition, fixed switching frequency at different operating conditions becomes possible.
